About Me

20250731_114001_edited_edited.jpg

Hello, I'm Ria Worley, a qualified BACP Registered Counsellor offering online and in-person counselling in the quaint and charming area of Clarendon Park, Leicester. I trained and studied with The University of Derby, gaining a First-Class BSc (Hons) Degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy. â€‹

I support adults experiencing depression, anxiety, bereavement, trauma, grief, and relationship difficulties, with a focus on building emotional resilience and lasting change. With over eight years’ experience across physical and psychological well-being, I bring a grounded, integrative approach to my work. Alongside private practice, I specialise in safeguarding and preventative work with children and young people. My experience includes volunteering with Leicester Counselling Centre and Sue Young Cancer Support, where I worked with people from diverse backgrounds and those affected by cancer, deepening my capacity to offer compassionate, effective support.

My counselling style is integrative, grounded in humanistic values and a genuine curiosity about you and your lived experience. I work from a trauma-informed, relational perspective, placing the therapeutic relationship at the centre of our work and supporting you to be in the driving seat of your life. Where helpful, I incorporate Gestalt techniques to support creativity and present-moment awareness, and existential exploration to support those feeling stuck in anxiety or seeking to live more authentically through greater freedom, meaning, and personal responsibility. I also use solution-focused approaches to build on your strengths, clarify what you want to change, and support forward momentum.

I welcome adult clients of all genders, including LGBTQ+ individuals, from all backgrounds, ages, beliefs, and ethnicities. I have a particular interest in working with ADHD, alongside a broad range of emotional and relational difficulties. As a Registered Member of the BACP, I work in line with the BACP Ethical Framework, offering a confidential, non-judgemental, and professional service while engaging in ongoing professional development to continually enhance the support I offer.

Counselling Sessions

Arrange for an obligation-free chat HERE, whereby we can explore what brings you to counselling and ensure you feel comfortable with me as your therapist, and confident that I can support you.

Prior to our first session, I will email a brief referral form for you to fill out and return. Together (both in-person and online), we will review the Counselling Agreement - a document that outlines boundaries, session times, confidentiality and GDPR considerations - allowing ample opportunities for questions and clarity. During ongoing sessions, we may discuss where you are in life right now, your past experiences that have shaped you, whilst looking to the future and what you want to gain from counselling.

Counselling sessions are held either online, via Teams or an alternative video-conferencing software or in-person in the Clarendon Park or Whetstone area of Leicester. Sessions last 50 minutes and cost £45. Payment is made via BACS prior to your appointment. Regular weekly sessions are considered to be an important part of the counselling process, in order to provide a stable foundation of a trusting therapeutic relationship to build upon; however, the regularity of sessions can be discussed if this doesn't suit. If you need to cancel due to holiday or sickness, these sessions will not be charged.

My relational approach to therapy means the connection between us is at the heart of our work together. Real change often begins with feeling heard, accepted and understood, creating a powerful space for growth, self-confidence and deeper connection to the world, to yourself and to the people around you. Our work together is not about me "fixing you", you are not broken. It is about me walking alongside you on your journey of exploration. I welcome your questions not only at the start, but throughout our work, and encourage you to raise any thoughts or concerns about the process. The time we share in sessions is your protected space, where you can bring your whole self and use it in whatever way feels most meaningful for you.

FAQ's

Some common questions and answers are found below, but if you'd like a question answered that isn't listed, then please do reach out and I'd be more than happy to help.

Do you offer online and face-to-face sessions?

I can offer face-to-face appointments within a calm and friendly Wellbeing Centre in Clarendon Park, Leicester, and also a beautiful Health and Wellbeing Hub in Whetstone, Leicester.

If you'd prefer a therapy space from the comfort of your own home, then a video-conferencing software such as Teams or Google Meet can be used for us to meet online.

How long is a session?

A session lasts for 50minutes

How much does it cost?

£45 per session. However, discretionary concessions can be offered - please do ask about this during the discovery call if you feel the cost would be a barrier to accessing Counselling

How long will I need Counselling for?

There is no 'one size fits all' approach to Counselling. For some, only a few sessions may be desired. For others, long-term therapy over many months and many years feels right - this is led by you

What can you help with?

I can support with a range of difficulties and challenges. Some common threads in clients I support are stress and anxiety, depression and low moods, relationship/interpersonal difficulties, grief and loss, identity and sexuality exploration, stress and finding coping strategies, experiencing domestic abuse, Cancer diagnosis, and seeking some clarity in the direction of life

How often should I have Counselling?

Weekly sessions are highly recommended - research suggests that by having weekly sessions, a deepening of the therapeutic relationship is built and maintained, which is a critical aspect of successful therapy. However, this might not feel appropriate for you and your counselling journey, and that's ok - the frequency of your sessions can be explored together so that it works for you.

What is your availability?

For up-to-date availability, please refer to my Counselling Directory listing HERE

Is there parking?

In Clarendon Park, there is no dedicated car park; however, there are plenty of surrounding streets where you can park, requiring a minute or two walk. In Whetstone, there is a dedicated car park alongside the Hub.
